In December 2019, as part of the Series 17 update, a new 72-player battle royale-style mode called The Eliminator was added. In this mode, players start by driving around the game world in a fairly slow, weak car such as a 1965 Mini Cooper. As players roam the safe zone, they can acquire car drops that contain more powerful vehicles that randomly appear on the map.
Players can also challenge other players to head-to-head races to specific points on the map by pointing their camera at the other's vehicle and honking their horn. Players are eliminated from the event if they drive out of the safe zone or lose a head-to-head race, where the winner of such has the option to drive the opponent's car or receive an upgrade. Eventually, when the safe zone shrinks to a certain point, the remaining players will then race to one final point on the map to determine the winner.
Microsoft stated in 2021 that The Eliminator was the most popular multiplayer mode in the game. In July 2019, as part of the Series 11 update, a special Horizon Story was added in collaboration with BBC's Top Gear. The missions, narrated by presenter Chris Harris, provided players with rewards including the "Track-tor" (a race-modified tractor featured in Series 25 of the show) and the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6. In December 2020, as part of the Series 30 update, another new game mode called Super7 was added to the game, which came alongside the expanded "Blueprint Builder" feature.
In Super7, players have to complete a series of seven randomly selected stunt challenges for rewards. In the following days, a fictional car, known as the 2058 Quadra V-Tech, was included in the game as part of the release of Cyberpunk 2077. This will also unlock the "Min, Meet Max" achievement for those who had completed all other events and challenges within a series. This helps it tear up drag strips and straighter road races, but it's an incredibly cumbersome car due to its weight, so definitely avoid it for more technical street races. However, it is on the cheaper end of S1 cars in Forza Horizon 5, with others costing in excess of one million CR. While not a real car in our world, we think the Warthog from Halo is a real hidden gem of a car. In the Warthog, you won't need roads where you're going. This novelty Halo vehicle is a bit on the expensive side for an off-road A Class car, but we think it's worth it if you've got the CR. Forza Horizon 5 includes over 500 cars across a wide range of driving disciplines, including road racing, cross country, drifting, and mud racing. With so many options, it's hard to tell which vehicle is the nicest in Forza Horizon 5 – yet there isn't a single solution. Customizing and upgrading a vintage microcar into a drag racing rocket, or a delivery van into an S2-class race car, is part of the thrill in the game. While it is now considerably easier to complete Horizon Arcade events, even by yourself, other elements of FH5's online portions haven't improved. Players are reporting that Horizon Life is now rarely populated by more than one or two additional players, and Convoys are still plagued with the same problems. This Mitsubishi Lancer GSR is certainly one of the most versatile cars in Forza Horizon 5 and is definitely one you should pick up as soon as you can. Admittedly, we've been using the Welcome Pack edition which, like the Porsche Taycan, comes pre-tuned and is only available in the premium Welcome Pack. This Class A version of the Lancer has high Acceleration and Off-Road stats, making it a great choice for mixed-terrain Dirt races. Despite its off-road capabilities, this souped-up Lancer is also great for any Street or even road races thanks to its steady handling, speed, and acceleration. A tune setup for the base B Class version of the Lancer that brings its rating up to 700, or a better setup that elevates it to A Class is the way to go if you don't have the premium Welcome Pack.
The Hoonigan Ford Cosworth is a great, little rally car that is excellent for dirt and cross-country races. Best of all, everyone gets it for free within the first hour of Forza Horizon 5 after completing the game's first Showcase event. The solid handling, both on and off-road, and great acceleration will allow you to easily stay near the front of the pack as you race on mud or mixed surfaces.
Some slick driving and drifting on corners will really help you get to the front. There's a reason this car is on the cover of Forza Horizon 5. The Mercedes-AMG Project One is a phenomenally powerful car with a top speed over 200mph and great acceleration. Made with F1 hybrid technology, the AMG One also boasts great grip and turning, even at higher speeds. As part of the S2 Class, taking this car around any of Forza Horizon 5's races is going to be a challenge, but road races and some street races will definitely be the best place for it. It's incredible speed also makes it a good choice for free roam activities such as Speed Traps, Speed Zones, and Danger Signs.
We found a player-made tune that upped its rating to X Class and topped its speed at 251 mph. Before we give our recommendations for some of the best cars in Forza Horizon 5, we should explain that there is simply not a 'best car' in the game. A Ferrari is always going to beat a Jeep in a road race, but that same Ferrari will be wrapped around a tree as the Jeep zooms by on a cross-country circuit. If you haven't tried this fix, just tweak your graphics card settings in Nvidia or AMD control panel to see if the in-game FPS boosts.
